What DataPoint does
Purpose-built geospatial support for landowners, farms, conservation organizations, municipalities, planners and professional teams.
Bring parcels, soils, water, wetlands, elevation, imagery, access and infrastructure into one readable planning picture.
Locate, assess, transform and document geospatial data so the final product is traceable and fit for its stated purpose.
Build organized QGIS and PostGIS environments that replace isolated files with maintainable, multi-user spatial information.
Turn complex GIS projects into secure, approachable web maps clients and stakeholders can actually use.
Combine soils, terrain, hydrology, plant systems and field observations for regenerative agriculture, conservation planning and resource screening.
Working example
A recent Michigan project brought together high-resolution aerial imagery, elevation, soils, wetlands, hydrography, roads, well records and a modeled groundwater surface in PostGIS—then delivered the result through QGIS and a secure web map.
A defensible process
Start with the question, intended use and consequences—not with a pile of available layers.
Collect authoritative sources, document dates and lineage, normalize projections and preserve original data.
Check geometry, attributes, completeness, assumptions, model behavior and fitness for the client's purpose.
Package the result as a map, database, web application or repeatable workflow—not an unexplained black box.
Where we work
Remote data, analysis and application projects are available nationwide. On-site project support is available across Michigan and the broader Great Lakes region.
Have a property, dataset or spatial problem?
DataPoint GIS provides geospatial research, screening, analysis and decision-support systems. Deliverables do not replace a licensed boundary survey, legal wetland delineation, engineered design, regulated environmental determination or other licensed professional service unless expressly included through a qualified partner.
